This book is part of a series of in-depth studies on the functioning of government-sponsored student loans schemes in Asia. It was written in the framework of a regional comparative policy review on student loans schemes undertaken by the Bangkok-based UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok) in association with the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP). The study is intended to be instrumental in improving the efficacy and financial efficiency of existing schemes and in providing a comparative information base for countries intending to introduce a student loans scheme.
